Finnish forests are owned by Finns

Ordinary Finns and their families own roughly 60 percent of Finnish forests. In their everyday life they create together the Finnish family forestry, ordinary people's sustainable and productive activity which spans over generations.

If all those who own forests through joint ownership, almost one fifth of the Finnish population own forest. For all of them, actually for the whole nation, the forest is a source of mental values and recreation. Everyman's right guarantee that all forests in Finland, regardless of who owns the forest, are accessible for reacreational use for everyone. Forest owner's children inherit the owner's forest.

Finnish family forestry is profitable economic activity, which is exceptional in the world's forestry. Return on investment for the owner is some 3-4 percent. The annual harvest revenue represents "13th monthīs salary" for hundreds of thousands of families. This all is possible because of the forest industry: it represents a trustworthy purchaser of wood on the long run, which safeguards the economic value of the forest.
